Astrid Bussink was about to move out of her Enschede home when the fireworks disaster destroyed it in May 2000. Ten years later, she returns. Meetings with residents and investigators draw her into conflicting accounts of the explosion. A personal return becomes entangled with a city’s unfinished search for answers.

Bussink rents an apartment overlooking the memorial and begins assembling photographs and footage of the explosion. Her own photographs of her destroyed home become part of the room she is constructing around her.
Outside, she meets survivors, investigators and people convinced that the official account leaves important questions unanswered. Those encounters pull her personal attempt to return into a larger, unresolved struggle over what happened. The film premiered in IFFR’s Bright Future programme in 2010.
