First Hand Films

Manar and Milad run a Waldorf school in the occupied West Bank. Marjolein Busstra follows their work with children and their family life as violence and pressure around them intensify.

I worked with Marjolein Busstra on the film plan and story development. During production, I reviewed material and discussed the focus and possible scenes for subsequent shoots. The collaboration continued as the circumstances around the school changed.

The film won Best International Feature Documentary at Hot Docs in 2026.

Netherlands Film Festival

A young Syrian refugee becomes a YouTube star in the Arab world while living in a village in the Netherlands. His online following contrasts with the isolation of his everyday life.

I worked with Sakir Khader on the themes and development of the film, and contributed feedback on the edit. Our discussions included revising the plan as circumstances changed what could be filmed.

Nozem Films

Rachel tries to understand the hidden life of her sister Dianne, who died by suicide. Family conversations, messages and recordings become part of her search. I was the dramaturg on this Teledoc Campus film, directed by Leon Veenendaal and produced by Nozem Films.

The film received the NPO Start Award for the most-streamed documentary of 2022.
